Hello to readers of Porn Bust Out. In my last blog entry entitled “Click Tricks” I made mention of a belief that the porn industry is driven by “clicks”. I think the proper terminology would be “ad impressions”. This information came from Laila Mickelwait when she was invited to The Rubin Report. She went on to describe how Pornhub and its affiliates were sued. At 9.47 of the video she elaborated on the business model of porn which is “ad impressions” and content. Seems as if a lot of the content on Pornhub was illegal. The interview is on YouTube. Its title is : How one woman outsmarted Pornhub and exposed its Dark Secrets.
I did not know any of this. What I did know is that ads and the constant need to click were an interruption of the viewers interest. As far as I am concerned the information about “clicks” is correct. What is more disturbing is the use of bad filming by studios to effect clicks. In my opinion what ruins porn more than clicking and advertising is bad filming. Typically studios post a great looking thumbnail. It has everything that you want to see and as soon as you click on it. The film collapses into something that cannot support the viewers fantasy. Yes , fantasy. Most if not all of us watch porn to engage in sexual fantasies. Any time that fantasy is interrupted. It’s time to click and move on. The studios use the human intent to engage is sexual fantasy as a tool to generate advertising fees/ profit. It’s like setting a trap. I think it’s time to bust out.
